Empower Her

When People Are Informed, Communities Are Transformed.

EmpowerHer: Skills and Power for Young Women

About the Project

EmpowerHer: Skills and Power for Young Women is an ongoing project by Autonomy Health Initiative that equips teenage mothers in Uganda with hands-on, income-generating skills in making eco-friendly re-usable sanitary pads, liquid soap, and other hygiene products.
Targeting girls often left behind after early pregnancy, this project creates pathways to dignified, self-sustaining work while improving hygiene and health in their communities.

How It Works

We train young women in cohorts of 20, offering:
Practical, hands-on skills in hygiene product making
Business development and basic financial literacy
Provide Small starter packs to kick start their businesses
Each cohort is supported throughout training and mentored to start small enterprises, helping
them turn skills into economic independence.

Why it matters

Teenage mothers often face stigma, poverty, and limited options but given the right
support, they become community changemakers.
This project bridges the gap between health, skills, and economic empowerment.  its not just
about training ,its about restoring confidence, supporting independence, and building
sustainable futures.
